Unity 3D City Model of the City of Tampere

The City of Tampere has produced the first version of the Tampere City Unity 3D City Model. The first version is limited by the building area of the upcoming tramway. It includes Hervanta, TAYS and the downtown of Tampere. The model also includes other upcoming buildings and plans (represented as yellow buildings). The model will be further developed and expanded in the future. Preview picture of the model and the whole area is included in the data resource preview page.

In addition to Unity, the model is also suitable for other game engines that read FBX format. All data is provided to Unity as a pre-built project that makes it easy to start developing. The full utilization of the model requires understanding the basics of Unity models and game engines.

Source data for the model:

  • Open GIS data, such as aerial photographs, point clouds, maps and 3D models of specific buildings
  • Planning documents
  • Tramway documents, tram lines, stops and surface models of tram stops

The material provided should be used e.g. for visualization. The level of accuracy is not sufficient for actual planning or construction.

The model was created with Unity 2017.3.1f1 but is can also be used with newer Unity versions. Opening the model with newer versions of Unity will require automated migration process during first launch.
